NAGPUR NEWS : Heavy Rain and Storm Ravage Nagpur’s Rural Belt, Farmers Devastated

NAGPUR NEWS : Nagpur witnessed a spell of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning that severely affected rural areas of the district. The worst-hit regions include Saoner, Kalmeshwar, Kamptee, and Katol tehsils, where farmlands were submerged under water.

The downpour, coupled with a thunderstorm, caused widespread damage to crops such as cotton, soybean, and vegetables, as well as orange and lemon orchards, shattering the hopes of farmers ahead of the festive season. For many, this unseasonal rain has turned Dussehra and Diwali into a season of despair.

After a bright morning, the weather changed dramatically around 4 p.m. when a powerful storm hit the area. In Telkamathi circle of Kalmeshwar tehsil, several orange orchards were devastated — trees were uprooted and fruits were blown away by the strong winds.

Villages including Tidangi Tishti (Budruk), Tishti (Khurd), Telgaon, Nandikheda, Mandovi, Pilkapar, Khumari, Telkamathi, Sonoli, and Devbardi were completely drenched. Standing crops of cotton, soybean, pigeon pea (arhar), and vegetables suffered significant losses. The storm also uprooted many trees, disrupting transportation and electricity supply across several areas.
