Nagpur : HCG NCHRI Cancer centre performs a successful cancer surgery on a New Zealand Citizen

Nagpur : 19th February 2021 In continuation to its endeavour to ensure world class cancer care services, HCG NCHRI Cancer centre Nagpur has successfully preformed a unique cancer surgery on a New-Zealand citizen. Mr. Ian Craig Neil a 61-year-old New-Zealand citizen had come on work visa to India, during his work tenure, he developed a lump on right side of his neck.

Patient Immediately visited HCG NCHRI cancer centre, where, after getting consulted with Oncology Team “Dr. Ajay Mehta – Surgical Oncologist and Dr. Nikhil Pande- Medical Oncologist” he underwent necessary investigations and was diagnosed with carcinoma that requires immediate surgery.

While addressing to press Dr. Ajay Mehta : Director & HOD Surgical Oncology has said Mr. lan Craig Neil has visited HCG NCHRI Cancer centre on 12th February 2021 with secondaries in right side of neck. All necessary investigations were carried out and patient was taken for surgery. Modified neck dissection was performed, 42 lymph nodes were dissected out of which 3 were positive for cancer. Patient had undergone post-operative recovery and would need post-operative radiotherapy & chemo therapy. He added.

Patient lan craig Neil extended his gratitude and said : “My Thanks to Dr. Nikhil pande for his rapid diagnosis of the lump on the side of my neck as a carcinoma that required immediate surgery. Then to Dr. Ajay Mehta for his clear and concise explanations of the particulars, outline of the surgery and treatment plan. I especially was put to an ease by his enthusiasm. I would also like to thank all the staff, for their kind attention, the whole way from helping me with admission, surgery, recovery/ICU Nurses and ward staff. I could not have been in better hands”.

Mr. Venkateshwarlu Marapaka COO, HCG NCHRI Cancer Centre said : “since the patient was from New-Zealand and required an immediate surgery entire administrative team has put all their efforts to complete legal and administrative formalities in coordination with Foreigners Regional Registration Office and completed all necessary actions within 24 hrs, ensuring immediate treatment to the patient and speedy recovery, HCG NCHRI is the first hospital of region to treat any patient from Oceania Continent. The team involved in treatment of the patient included – Dr. Ajay Mehta – Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Nikhil pande, Medical Oncologist, Dr. Jithesh Khandrani, Anaesthetist, Dr. Anjali Joshi, Yoga therapist, Ms. Poonam Tandiyal-Physiotherapist and other clinical and paramedical team.
