नागपुर : नागपुर मनपा में आज 5 जनवरी 2021 को महापौर पद का ऑनलाइन चुनाव सम्पन्न हुआ। जिसमें 107 मत लेकर भाजपा उम्मीदवार दयाशंकर तिवारी ने कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार रमेश पुणेकर को पराजित किया। इन्हें 27 मत मिले, चुनाव में भाग लिए तीसरे उम्मीदवार बसपा से थे,बसपा उम्मीदवार नरेंद्र वालदे ने अपने पक्ष के 10 मत हासिल किए।पीठासीन अधिकारी ने आज के चुनाव में दयाशंकर तिवारी को बहुमत से विजयी घोषित किया।
आज की चुनाव प्रक्रिया सुबह 11 बजे मनपा मुख्यालय के स्थाई समिति सभागृह में सम्पन्न हुए। सिर्फ महापौर चुनाव को ऑनलाइन पद्दत से करवाने में 3 घंटे लग गए,इस दौरान काफी तकनीकी अड़चने आई। महापौर के चुनाव में 5 नगरसेवक अनुपस्थित थे,इनमें पुरुषोत्तम हज़ारे, बंटी शेलके, आभा पांडे, किशोर कुमेरिया और गार्गी चोपरा का समावेश था।
नवनिर्वाचित दयाशंकर तिवारी का जन्म 1 नवंबर 1963 में हुआ। उन्होंने एमए इतिहास व पत्रकारिता में डिग्री ली। वे वर्ष 1997 से 2002,वर्ष 2002 से 2007,वर्ष 2012 से 2017 और वर्ष 2017 से 2022 तक के लिए 4 दफे नगरसेवक चुने गए। वर्ष 2012 से 13 में स्थाई समिति सभापति व नागपुर सुधार प्रन्यास में विश्वस्त रहे। वर्ष 2004 में तिवारी बतौर भाजपा उम्मीदवार विधानसभा का चुनाव भी लड़ चुके हैं। वे शहर बॉक्सिंग, आईस स्केटिंग, चेस बॉक्सिंग संघठन से जुड़े हुए हैं। इन्होंने विद्यार्थी जीवन में वादविवाद स्पर्धाओं में 582 पुरस्कार जीत चुके हैं।
