NAGPUR NEWS : Carrying forward the tradition of eco-friendly celebrations, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) organized a special workshop where over 600 school students crafted Ganesh idols from natural clay.
The initiative, held at Suresh Bhat Auditorium, echoed with the chants of “Our Bappa, Eco-friendly Bappa,” as children enthusiastically gave form to their creativity while spreading a strong message of environmental responsibility.
The workshop, conceived under the vision of NMC’s Municipal Commissioner and guided by senior officials, aims to instill eco-conscious values among children from a young age. Groups of students from 18 civic schools, ranging from classes 5 to 10, were provided clay and step-by-step guidance to shape idols. Within hours, rows of beautifully crafted Ganesh idols lined the auditorium, symbolizing both devotion and sustainability.
The event was inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by Additional Commissioner, who praised the initiative as a vital step towards creating awareness about eco-friendly festivities. Another senior Additional Commissioner also joined the children in shaping an idol, calling it a refreshing and memorable experience. Trainers invited by NMC were felicitated for guiding the students during the session
Adding a unique touch, students from Urdu-medium schools also participated and impressed the gathering by crafting elegant idols. They sang patriotic songs, receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience.
Officials highlighted that such activities not only nurture hidden talents but also cultivate responsibility towards the environment. They stressed that eco-friendly idols protect rivers and lakes from pollution, and these values, when instilled in children, can create a lasting impact on society.
