Grand Conclusion of ‘Shikshanotsav 2025–26’ at Kavi Suresh Bhat Auditorium
Nagpur News : To provide a rightful platform for the hidden talents, sports skills, and cultural abilities of students from NMC schools, the Education Department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation organized ‘Shikshanotsav’, which concluded in a grand ceremony on Friday (20th) at the Kavi Suresh Bhat Auditorium.

Students mesmerized the audience with energetic dance performances set to Marathi and Hindi songs. The enthusiastic applause from the audience further boosted the students’ morale.

The event was graced by Hon. Mayor Mrs. Nita Thakre as the chief guest. Deputy Mayor Mrs. Leela Hathibed, Leader of the Opposition Mr. Sanjay Mahakalkar, Corporators Mrs. Vaishali Udapurkar and Mrs. Sarika Nandurkar, Additional Commissioner Mrs. Vaishnavi B., Deputy Commissioner Dr. Meghna Vasankar, Education Officer Mrs. Sadhana Sayam, Assistant Commissioner Mr. Narendra Bawankar, Public Relations Officer Mr. Manish Soni, Deputy Education Officers Mr. Sanjay Dighore and Mrs. Seema Khobragade, Chief Coordinator Mrs. Anita Bhotmange, along with all school inspectors, were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Nita Thakre said there is a growing need to provide quality free education to the common citizens of Nagpur city.

Along with increasing enrollment in municipal schools, greater emphasis will be placed on improving the quality of education and fostering students’ intellectual development.
All schemes implemented by the Education Department will be executed to their fullest capacity. Parents from economically weaker sections entrust their children’s future to municipal schools, and efforts must be made to further enhance the prestige of these institutions. She also emphasized the need to formulate concrete plans to stay competitive amid rising competition from other schools, particularly English-medium institutions. To address this challenge, English-medium municipal schools have been launched.
The Mayor also congratulated students and teachers for their achievements in educational, cultural, sports, and intellectual competitions.
The introductory address was delivered by Education Officer Mrs. Sadhana Sayam.
She mentioned the launch of the “Mission Enrollment” initiative aimed at increasing student strength in municipal schools and highlighted various initiatives undertaken to improve educational quality.
She also appreciated the students’ performances during Shikshanotsav.
The program was compered by Mrs. Shubhangi Pohare, Mrs. Madhu Parad, Mrs. Pratibha Lokhande, and Mr. Krishna Ujavane. The vote of thanks was delivered by Chief Coordinator Mrs. Anita Bhotmange.
The program began with a welcome song presented by students of PM Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri School, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Mayor Nita Thakre.
A short film showcasing various activities and competitions conducted under Shikshanotsav, as well as initiatives for strengthening kindergarten classes and schools, was screened. Outstanding group singing and dance performances from cultural competitions were also presented.
The group song was performed by Lal Bahadur School, while dance performances were presented by Nari Upper Primary School, Pardi Upper Primary School, and PM Shri Sanjaynagar School.
Various programs were organized during Shikshanotsav from 28 November to 6 December. In the current academic year, Durganagar Primary School was declared the winner, while Vivekanand Primary School secured the runner-up position.
Similarly, Pardi Upper Primary School emerged as the winner and Durganagar Marathi Upper Primary School as the runner-up.
All these schools were duly honored at the event.
Students who secured first rank (stream-wise and medium-wise) in the March 2025 Class 10 and 12 examinations were awarded a cheque of ₹25,000 and a gold coin. Second-rank holders received ₹15,000, while third-rank holders were awarded ₹10,000.
Students from Classes 6 to 12 (age group 14–18) who secured first, second, and third positions in sports events such as 100m race, 200m race, mixed relay, relay, shot put, long jump, football, kho-kho, langdi, kabaddi, carrom, chess, tug of war, and cricket were honored with trophies.
Additionally, students who excelled in cultural competitions—including qawwali, group song, folk dance, group dance, and solo dance—were felicitated with mementos.
