Nagpur News : A momentous celebration took place at KokilabenAmbani Hospital, Mumbai, to mark the achievement of 50 successful Free Bone Marrow Transplantations. The distinguished gathering included Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Chairperson of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital Tina Munim Ambani, the prominent actor Jackie Shroff, Member of Sickle Cell Mission Government of India Dr. Vinky Rughwani, Renu Chaturvedi, Head CSR Coal India Limited, Jasmine Majethia, Executive Director of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital Santosh Shetty, Head of the Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation Dr. Santanu Sen and the philanthropic presence.

Executive Director Shetty commenced the event with a introductory speech. He highlighted about the various activities taken under Kokilaben Ambani Hospital. Dr. Santanu Sen later provided detailed insights into the functioning of the Bone Marrow Transplantation unit at the hospital, emphasizing the critical role it plays in saving lives.

A touching moment during the event was when a beneficiary child of Thalassemia Bal Seva Yojana was invited onto the stage. With gratitude in his heart, the young beneficiary along with their parents thanked Nitin Gadkari, Dr. Vinky Rughwani and Kokilaben Ambani Hospital for their unwavering support and for making life-changing treatments accessible to those in need.

This significant milestone in healthcare was made possible through the dedicated support of Coal India Limited’s CSR initiative, Thalassemia Bal Seva Yojana (TBSY), providing 10 Lakh rupees to each Thalassemia patient for bone marrow transplantation. Dr. Vinky Rughwani, in a previous instance, had urged Nitin Gadkari to recommend CSR funding for Thalassemia patients, which was now fully realized.

In a remarkable development, Dr. Rughwani proposed extending the same support to Sickle Cell patients, emphasizing that bone marrow transplantation is the definitive solution for both conditions. Nitin Gadkari promptly approved this request and forwarded it to Coal India Limited, currently in the process of approval.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari praised the hospital’s tireless efforts and the resounding success achieved, acknowledging the profound impact on the lives of those in need. This monumental step further reinforces the hospital’s commitment to making a difference in healthcare and saving lives. He said Sickle Cell patients will also be included in Thalassemia Bal Seva Yojana for Bone Marrow Transplantation.

In addition to the celebration, Jackie Shroff’s contribution to creating awareness about Thalassemia disease was acknowledged, highlighting the importance of educating the public about this condition.

Chairperson of the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital Tina Munim Ambani also spoke on that occasion.
